Milwaukee Wisconsin, Salmon Fishing
Lake Michigan holds a very good population of king/chinook and coho salmon. A majority of the salmon fishing I do on Lake Michigan is for king salmon, as they are the fiercest fighting freshwater fish that swims in Wisconsin. Unlike your typical Lake Michigan charter trip where your standing around waiting for a rod to go off so you can reel in a fish on heavy trolling tackle while the boat stays in gear. This is not exactly my idea of fun. We pursue all of these fish with light tackle (spinning rods) either jigging or casting soft plastics and spoons. I cannot explain words how much fun it is to feel the hit of a big king and the fight that ensues, but its definitely something you need to experience at least once in your lifetime.
King and Coho Salmon Fishing Guide on Light Tackle Lake Michigan Milwaukee Wisconsin Summer and Fall
The best bite for big kings on light tackle starts in July and typically runs through October. The time of year that you book your trip will depend on the technique we will use, but being on the water everyday helps me to.
